25 Days of Lip Love
For the next 25 days, I have to wear a different lip color and I must say that it is a challenge. Like most of us, I have my favorites – the ones I reach for most often. The 25 days of Lip Love challenge is forcing me to step out of my comfort zone.
Nudes and Neutrals
I tend to like nudes and neutrals for every day. When I want to glam it up I go with a red. Spice Spice Baby by Too Faced or Darling Clementine by Merle Norman were my two best friends. These moisturizing lipsticks had a hint of color but still qualified as nudes or neutrals.
When I wanted to be just a bit more sassy but not too bold, I’d wear Hussy by Merle Norman. This sweet red had more color and a lot more pizzazz but it wasn’t too much. I could wear it to the office and out to dinner. All three lip colors were safe.
Safe to Daring
I moved from safe to daring when I joined a Facebook makeup group. The ladies in the group were rocking nudes, pinks, reds, oranges, purples, and blacks. I’d never considered wearing many of the colors they wore so beautifully. I decided to take a chance. To explore. To have some fun. After all, it was just lipstick. If I didn’t like it, I could wipe it off.
Explore I did. Some of the colors worked well and some didn’t. I tried a deep purple once and nonchalantly went to find my husband. When he looked up from his paper, his eyes widened and his mouth dropped open.
“What is that?” He pointed at my mouth. He stared for a minute and blurted, “I don’t like that. What? What?”
I get a good laugh every time I think about it. I don’t do dark lips very often. Other than the fact that he hates it, dark lip colors can be aging. I’ve had some hits and I’ve had some misses and I’ll continue to do so. It’s certainly an adventure.
That brings me to my 25 Days of Lip Love challenge. I’m trying new colors and I’m exploring new brands. I’ll try some prestige brands and I’ll try some drug store brands. At the end of the challenge, I’ll let you know which ones I liked best. Join me in the 25 Days of Lip Love challenge and then tell me about your hits and misses. In the meantime, what lip color are you wearing today? Click on comments and let me know.
Are you being safe or are you being sassy?
