Amazing Colors

The colors are absolutely amazing.  If you’re looking for a lip color that’s not quite a nude but not too neutral, then look no further.  These four colors are amazing.  Blood Orange. Espresso. Very Berry.  Chili Pepper.  Not too red.  Not too orange.  Not too brown. Each one perfect.

National Wear Red Day 2015!

Denise Jordan from Makeup on Aisle 64 Go(es) Red for Women's Heart Health

Denise Jordan from Makeup on Aisle 64 Go(es) Red for Women’s Heart Health

National Wear Red Day is today.

Friday, February 6.

Today, women across the country will be donning their red dresses to bring awareness to women’s heart health.  I am one of those women.  Why? Because the Go Red movement is important.  It’s important to me and its important to women.
Why all the fuss about women’s heart health?

Well this is what we know.
  • We know that just about every minute, a woman dies from heart disease.  Heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined.  To make it plain, 1 in 3 women die of heart disease.  1 in 3.
  • Heart disease is largely preventable.  If we control our risk factors, maybe, just maybe, heart disease can be avoided. Controllable risk factors include smoking, obesity, physical inactivity, poor eating habits, diabetes, and cholesterol levels.  Flip the script by quitting smoking, losing weight, engaging in physical activity, and eating a healthy diet or work with your health care provider to manage diabetes or high blood pressure.  By doing these things, you can reduce your risk of heart disease.

Join me in the Go Red movement.
Join me and Go Red for women’s heart health because when women Go Red, they begin to make choices for a healthier lifestyle.
Take action.
  • Know your numbers.  Know  what your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels are.
  • Get a health assessment.  Make an appointment to see your doctor or nurse practitioner for a check up.  If you don’t have one, check out the free clinics in town or take advantage of the free health screenings that are offered at local health fairs like Focus on Health.
I’m taking action.
My action plan includes limiting butter and coffee and resuming my daily Pilates routine. What’s your three? What three things will you do for heart health?
What action are you taking for your heart health?
Tell me about it in the comments section below.  And, if you enjoyed this post, I would really appreciate it if you would subscribe.  Put your email address in the email box on the right and click Sign Up.  And please, Like me on Facebook.  Follow me on Twitter, Instagram, and Pintrest and check me out on Makeup on Aisle 64 TV on YouTube.

In My Bag… Charity Jordan, Actress

charity in Selma cropped 312 x 412Charity Jordan, wife, mom, actor, activist, is the focus for this month’s In My Bag.   Charity is fresh off the red carpet from the nationwide premier of the Golden Globe nominated movie SELMA that took place in Los Angeles and New York. She also got the opportunity to attend Oprah Winfrey’s Legend’s Ball – Those Who Paved the Way.charity jordan mommy uncensored image

Charity told Frost Illustrated, “Here I was in tears, watching Oprah’s master class in January and six month later, I’m shooting a scene with her.”  And more months later, she and her husband Justin were attending a garden party at Oprah’s home.  Who knew!

This busy young mom likes to keep it real.  Her daily makeup routine tends to be quick and easy.  When she and her hubby are trying to get their two girls dressed, fed, and out the door, she can’t spend a lot of time on her morning routine.   When there’s a red carpet event, web series to shoot, or a speaking engagement on the calendar, she takes more time to glam it up.

Most days, Charity is carrying a black leather Coach bag.  This classic tote is the perfect bag to put all her necessities in it plus a treat or two for her girls.  Its simple, classic style is the perfect take-along for running errands or personal appearances.
