New and Loving It – Mally Perfect Prep Poreless Primer

Makeup On Aisle 64- New and Loving It - Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless PrimerI just discovered Mally Perfect Prep Poreless Primer.

I was browsing the aisles at Ulta© in search of a new primer when the sales clerk recommended I try it.

“It’s fairly new and I really like it.”  She dipped a cotton swab in the “tester” and handed it to me.

I dabbed some on my finger tips and rolled it around.  I liked the feel of it.  I rubbed a little on my face and I loved the feel of it – so soft, so smooth.  At $35, it was not in my usual price range, but the small sample really impressed me and I wondered what it would be like to do my whole face.  I decided to bite the bullet and buy it.  I couldn’t wait to get home and try it out.  Here’s my impression.

The packaging was nothing special, just a little pink box.  When I lifted out the jar, I thought – nice.  It made me think of a candle.  A lavender/pinky colored lid was screwed atop a clear, three dimensional-looking jar.  It was nice.  Very nice. Makeup on Aisle 64 - Mally Perfect Primer _ New and Loving It

The first thing I noticed once I took the lid off was that the cream was a pale pink.  It made me think of baby lotion. I sniffed it and smelled a light, pleasant fragrance.  It was the kind of scent that makes one think of women, creams, and powders. Familiar.  Pleasant.

I dipped my fingers in and spread a light layer over my face.  It went on smoothly and I didn’t get that flat, ashy look that I always got when I used the Neutrogena© primer.  My skin felt smooth and silky.  I kept rubbing my hands over my cheeks marveling at the feel of them.  And the Malley Perfect Prep Poreless Primer created the perfect canvas for the rest of my makeup.  I absolutely loved it.

About a week later, two of my sisters came by to visit and I got out some of my new stuff – blush, eye shadows, lip colors, and the Mally Perfect Prep Poreless Primer.  We sat around the kitchen table laughing and talking like the little girls we once were.

“It feels like silk,” Lavina exclaimed as she smoothed some onto her face.  “I love this!”  I have to agree with her.  I can’t wait to try the rest of the line!

Makeup On Aisle 64 — On My Wish List!

Makeu[ on Aisle 64 - On My Wish ListOn My Wish List!

A wish list is just that – a list of things that you wish for; not necessarily things that you need, but things you just want.  That’s what I’m doing today — wishing.  Christmas is coming and like the little girl I used to be, I am making a list of things I want.  However, since the items are a bit pricier, my list is much smaller.  Who knows!  Maybe Santa will surprise me.

At the top of my wish list…  Makeup on Aisle 64 -- On My Wish List _ Dooney and Bourke Alto Sellaio Vera

At the top of my wish list is the Alto Sellaio Vera hand bag in chestnut by Dooney and Bourke.  Santa!  Please! Wrap it up and put a bow on it.   For the most part, I’ve been good.

I love my D&Bs and this one is just too sweet.  I love the sleek look, the slim styling, and all the little details that make Dooney and Bourke timeless.  It’s also smaller than what I usually carry, so it won’t put as much weight on my shoulder.  See – I need it!

Makeup on Aisle 64 -On My Wish List - Mia 2 Amethyst Refreshing Daily Cleanse Set The other things on my list are not nearly as pricey.  I want the Mia 2 Amethyst Refreshing Daily Cleanse Set.  I just want to try it.  I need a good facial scrub, some exfoliation and brightening.  I want “smoother, softer, more beautiful skin”.  Okay, Santa.  Bring me that, too.

Makeup on Aisle 64 - On My Wish List - Conair Oval Double Sided Illuminated Mirror

Last but not least, I want a new makeup mirror.  I want one of those portable oval double –sided illuminated mirrors.  So — that’s my list.

What’s on your wish list?

Makup on Aisle 64 Favorite Things — Real Techniques Brushes

I thought I’d start off the first Shop My Faves post with Sam and Nic Chapman’s Real Techniques© brushes.  I absolutely love them.  The brushes are so soft – so dense and they feel great on the face.  They’re light weight and they handle well allowing you to apply makeup with ease.  Whether using the base shadow brush for a “smooth, flawless foundation of color” or the multitask brush for “effortless application of powder, blush, and bronzer,” the Real Techniques brushes are must haves.

I bought my first set of Real Techniques brushes on recommendation from a sales clerk at Ulta © Beauty.  It all started with me visiting my daughter and having a glam session while there.  I realized if I was going to keep up the new look, I needed some new tools.  When I got home, I went to the Mac counter at Macy’s and bought all the makeup, but I wasn’t quite ready to shell out what Mac was asking for brushes, so I went to Ulta.  It was a bit overwhelming to look at all the different brands and types of brushes.  I had a picture of one of the brushes my daughter advised me to get, but that was it.

I asked a sales clerk which brand she would buy and she said Real Techniques© so that’s what I got.  I couldn’t wait to get them home so I could practice with them.  And — there was a note on the box that said, “Get the best from your brush… watch step-by-step tutorials http://www.realtechniques.com”.  That’s just what I needed — a step-by-step tutorial.  Sam and Nic made it look so easy and I could watch as often as I needed to.  I was hooked.  I also learned that each brush filled a different need.  When I went back to get more brushes – I bought Real Techniques ©.  I’ve got quite the collection.  Here’s what I have:

The Real Techniques Core Collection

  • The Real Techniques Starter Set
  • The Real Techniques Travel Essentials.
  • The lash-brow groomer.
  • The setting brush.
  • The stippling brush.

Which particular ones are my favorite things?  The multi task brush and the buffing brush.  The multi task brush came in the Travel Essentials set.  The buffing brush came in the Core Collection.  I use these two brushes every single day.  The multi task brush is my blusher – I use it to apply cream blush but I can also use it for powder.  I use the buffing brush to make sure my foundation and concealer are worked in.
